Friends Bar

While this is our go-to bar for drinks, they actually have top-notch burgers. It gets busy, but it is still very cozy and chill.
You can play pool or darts, enjoy the DJ set, have a bite, and make friends. A great place to finish the night and head home.

A cozy French restaurant in Canggu with rustic indoor and outdoor dining and homemade comfort food. This spot has been one of the crowd favourites in the Canggu area since it first opened its doors in 2016!
Their main dishes and pastry are equally good. The signature item on the menu to order here for dinner is a brochette – it is a giant skewer of perfectly cooked meat of your choice.
Gouthe serves breakfast and brunch as well, from fruit bowls to quiche and panini, taking advantage of fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Ulekan

Amazing Indonesian restaurant serving both Indonesian and Balinese cuisines, introducing you to the best flavours of the archipelago.
Too many things we’d like to recommend trying, but you can never go wrong with crispy pork belly, grilled baramundi, and vegetable side dishes. Make sure to try all the different sambals they make.
From service to interiors and food – everything is exceptional. And note they serve large plates – you will be rolling out of this restaurant, but happy!

Indigo

An OG Japanese restaurant in Berawa led by a Japanese chef who consistently delivers authentic flavours.
It is a chic yet minimalist dining venue with amazing food – we tried many things on the menu and were blown away!
They tap into fine dining, and you will find Western classics on the menu, too, like foie gras or scallops. Their black miso cod dish is highly praised by travellers who’ve been to Japan, so it is a great place to have a date or a celebration.

Mosto

First natural wine bar in Bali and Indonesia serving a modern mix of French and Australian fare.
Minutes away from the beach, Mosto has quickly become one of the popular cafes in the area thanks to its location and delicious food. Plates are rustic and deliver bold flavours, mixing Mediterranean classics with local ingredients.
Of course, people come here for good vibes and wine. They often have special events with DJs and wines, so keep your eyes peeled.
Food-wise, highlights for us were cold roast beef with kalamata tapenade and whipped macadamia – a combo we haven’t tried before, and braised beef cheek they serve with pickled jicama.

Sama Sama Prime

Sama Sama Prime takes you on a culinary journey through Japan, from street food to omakase-style sushi. The main focus of this restaurant is Japanese barbecue, so meat lovers, take note!

KONG

Chic bistro in Berawa with amazing food. You can order à la carte or go for their tasting menu called “Discovery” with 5 courses.
We love homemade pasta and tuna tartare here, but honestly, the seafood and meat selection is so impressive, you will have a hard time choosing!
Prices are on the higher side, so this is a spot for a special celebration or a date night.

Milano

Steps from the beach, there is a chic Italian place on the ground floor of the White Goose Hotel – Milano.
Classic appetisers from all over Italy, pizza, pasta, and, of course, desserts! Everything pairs perfectly with a wine list, and there are a few vegetarian dishes, but not many gluten-free options, on the menu.
The place is great for dinner, when it is most lively.

A chic restaurant in Berawa with Ukrainian food and hookah at the top level, and fantastic pastry and bakery at the ground floor with excellent coffee.
The lounge is open till wee hours, and you can really have a great time with friends here. The entire menu is a perfect mix of familiar flavours and Ukrainian delicacies. You have to try borsch soup and Ukrainian pasta.
For real foodies, you can order black caviar here, too, or aspic – we guarantee you’ve never had anything like that!
Fair to say, prices are much, much higher than at a regular cafe in Canggu, Bali.

Lusa By/Suka

Lusa By/Suka, sister cafe of Suka Espresso, is one of the best cafes in Berawa to enjoy breakfast and brunch staples. Cool industrial design, lots of open space, and yummy food at great prices.
Our top picks are chilli scrambled eggs and Southern chicken waffles. They also have healthy bowls for breakfast or lunch.
But the dinner menu is what stands out the most! Grilled Black Angus picanha with red wine jus and truffle butter sounds like a meal from a Michelin-star restaurant, but it is casually served here at Lusa (although it is the most expensive item on the menu).

Bokashi Berawa

Well-known health store and cafe with a unique tea house concept. As the kitchen uses only fresh local produce, the menu changes with the seasons.
The menu is largely inspired by Japanese cuisine and conveniently lists all the allergens in the dishes. The bento sets and a hearty bowl with beef are a must-try!
The Berawa branch is quite small, so book your table in advance.

Nüde Cafe Berawa

Our go-to for burgers, smoothie bowls, and a salmon bagel with cream cheese. At Nude, you will find an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere and Western comfort food.
Their menu is massive, but it is split into breakfast until 12 PM, lunch from 12 PM and dinner from 5 PM, and certain things, like burgers, are only available in the afternoon.

On a rainy day, you may crave a hot bowl of noodle soup to slurp with satisfaction. Well, Papa Lee’s restaurant in Canggu is the perfect place for Taiwanese family-style comfort food.
Go for their signature wonton noodle soup or chicken ramen, and if you don’t want soup, order xiao long bao.
They have a semi-open kitchen, and the whole place is lively and vibrant like a market. Prices are reasonable.

Jade By Todd English

Upscale dining with dimmed lights, chic interiors, and fine-dining style cooking? Yep, that’s what Jade By Todd English is all about!
This spot is only open for dinner and serves eclectic Asian fusion. Think beef tartare but with rendang spices, Caesar salad but with goat cheese and asparagus, hand rolls with tuna, or pecking duck bolognese. Even simple Singaporean noodles are elevated with wood-grilled prawns.
So expect good food, amazing cocktails, and DJ sets till midnight.

Alma Tapas Bar

Alma is more than just a tapas bar. When you open the menu, you will have a wide choice of dishes from the land and sea – all delicious.
Steps away from the beach and FINNS beach club, Alma is an ultra-popular spot for late-night drinks and snacks. Their wagyu steak with chimichurri and ceviche are out of this world!
They also now have a joint in Bingin, Uluwatu.

Sababa

Sababa is an amazing restaurant in Berawa to indulge in Middle Eastern cuisine. Nothing beats homemade Middle Eastern shawarma!
The menu takes you from hummus and labneh to hearty mains with lamb. They have a special vegetarian menu, too, with falafel dishes.
Not to mention the interiors – you are immediately transported somewhere on the Eastern Mediterranean coast.

Riviera Bistro

Beautiful bistro for a girls’ night out, a date, or to hang out with friends – the vibe is so relaxing!
The menu is mainly inspired by Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, so you will definitely get a nice tiramisu here. Besides dessert, risotto and pasta with spicy prawns and zucchini flowers are a must.
We highly recommend booking in advance and confirming which table you get, as some tables are outdoors and if it rains, you won’t be able to enjoy the dinner.

Ghost Kitchen & Record Bar

Ghost spoils you with good food and vinyl DJ sets.
Open till late hours, the kitchen serves wood-fired prawns, fish, rib eye, and an array of snacks and small plates for you to enjoy dinner after a beach day. On Sunday, you can bring your friends and family to enjoy the best traditions of a Sunday Roast, as well.
The cocktail list is great, our favourite this season is Peach Slap.

Shun Omakase

For a Ginza-style omakase experience right in the centre of Canggu, you should book a seat at Shun. Freshest fish and seafood for the chef to prepare each piece of sushi or sashimi right in front of you.
You will forget that you’re surrounded by rice fields and fully immerse yourself in the slow-paced, detail-oriented culinary journey. With a touch of wasabi and soy sauce, you will taste some of the best sushi you’ve ever had.
There are only 11 seats available, true to the authentic omakase counters in Japan, so book in advance.

Longtime

5 minutes from the Berawa beach by bike, Longtime is a recently rebranded spot serving modern Asian cuisine.
They have a bit of everything: lunch packages with free-flow drinks, weekends with cocktails and DJs, and a long menu full on snacks and plates we are curious to try.
Among the main dishes, crispy duck is our favourite.

L’Osteria Pizza E Cuccina

Dining at L’Osteria feels like visiting your nonna, even if you’re not, in fact, Italian. The whole place welcomes you with cozy rustic interiors, friendly service and fantastic home-cooked Italian meals.
The iconic pasta swirled in a wheel of cheese? You got it at L’Osteria, too. From simple classics like homemade caccio e peppe to filling sourdough Neapolitan pizzas, you are in for a treat!
They do leave space for some creativity, though, and thus their delicious pistachio tiramisu was born. Incredible dessert.
Lots of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes.

Gente Italian Seafood Restaurant Canggu

Another Italian restaurant in Canggu, close to Berawa Beach, that is well worth its place on this list. They are especially good with all the seafood and fish dishes.
Think, barramundi, clams, insalata di mare with burrata, tuna tartare, and, of course, tender cotopus. Really great flavours and freshly caught or sourced ingredients.
Please keep in mind that at Gente, they don’t serve meat at all.

One-eyed Jack

One-eyed Jack is one of our favourite Japanese restaurants because it is within walking distance to the beach, and we sit down for dinner right after sunset.
It is much more casual than omakase fine-dining, closer to an izakaya, aka a pub. Here you can get a nice rice bowl with sizzle Wagyu, mini shrimp tacos, or sushi rolls – all with a glass of chilled sake.
The flavours will be on point, as the chef has previously worked at the famous Nobu Restaurants!
